Performance Analysis

Stability

Being a beginner friendly board the Wave Edge boasts superb stability. You need not worry too much when standing on top of the board as it has one large central fin and two lateral smaller fins to keep it steady.

Maneuverability

For a budget board, it has a surprisingly acceptable maneuverability. The biggest trouble is its awful carry capacity. Even the weight of healthy adult may force the board to bend and throw it into chaos. Though, with a child or a light adult the boards performance is admirable.

Glide

The board has a relatively smaller length of only 10’2” but it is also thinner. While it may not glide by with perfect serenity it would still retain an average glide speed. One other thing to take note of is the oar, it is rather heavy and should be subbed out for a better lighter one. However, even with the new oar it would still be a poor choice for racing.

Ease of Transport

Tri-Fin technology of the board acts as a double-edged sword. The two fixed fins can be a bit annoying when you try to roll up and pack the board. Other than this, it has its own carry backpack and the storing size is very small. You can just stash it in your closet.

Ease of Inflation

If you are aiming for the perfect 12 PSI, it would be quite hard to pump it up. If you are skilled, it can still be done under 5 minutes. But an electric pump would make the work far easier and be more effective.

Value

Considering how inexpensive the Wave Edge is, a below $400 board with so much to offer would be very hard to find. You would not want to spend your money needlessly so gaining experience in the early levels with the budget board Bestway Inflatable Hydro-Force Wave Edge 10′ Stand Up Paddleboard is something we can not recommend enough !
